Custom theme for developers.mit.edu
After our last meeting, it was decided that we'd like to improve the theme for developers.mit.edu. I'd like to get this discussion started here in the forums. In particular I'm interested in collecting suggestions, and also hearing from people who are willing to assist in the development of a custom drupal theme... what their skills are, what they'd like to contribute, etc.
I'll start it out:
Suggestions:
- I'd like to see a theme with color scheme that reflects MIT better.
- I think the content on this theme is too narrow, so either widen it, or make it elastic.
- Probably related to narrowness, but possibly font selection and color as well... but I find the forums hard to read in comparison to other drupal themes, so I'd like something more readable.
How I can help:
I can help set up a shared svn project so we can all access and modify the theme (if this makes sense) and also help people not familiar with svn with setting up and using tools. I can help with setting up local drupal environments for testing themes, as well as contribute to testing. I'm terrible at design, so I'll happily avoid that part of it.

I'd still like to see a section that has some high level information about this site. An "About" link that indicates that the site is sponsored and operated by IS&T. The site is intended to facilitate the work of developers from all DLCs, not just IS&T....
I'd also like to see and events section that could be used to advertise various user group meetings, presentations, and talks.

This topic was more about the look and feel (theme) than the content. I will mention briefly though that others have requested an "About" section, and that I believe Andrew is working a bit on the wording for this. Don't know about events, could be another topic, potentially.
